CDR Yamaha racer tops historic Echo Valley event in Toowoomba.
CDR Yamaha’s Kade Mosig won the prestigious Mountain Man Motocross event at Echo Valley Raceway in Toowoomba, Queensland, on Sunday in what was the event’s special 40th anniversary running.
Mosig took time out from his Australian Supercross Championship schedule to contest the one-off event, winning the overall ahead of KTM-mounted teenager Caleb Ward.
Ward, who stepped up to a 350 SX-F for the Mountain Man weekend, challenged Mosig for the victory across Sunday’s action in a spirited performance beyond his MX2 experience. Behind the duo overall was Husqvarna’s Luke Arbon, with Joel Milesevic (KTM) and Daniel McEntee (SFC Yamaha) completing the top five.
Arbon cashed in for the weekend, successfully pulling double duty with the Goldentyre 125 Cup overall victory on board a TC 125, leading home moto one winner Kerrod Morrissy and Isaac Ferguson in the division.
Sunday was the first time since 1997 that the iconic Mountain Man event has been hosted at the Toowoomba venue. Its inaugural running was back in 1975, staged every year between then and 1989 until the one-off running in 1997.
