Factory team on the search for second SX1 entry.
Penrite Honda Racing is looking into options to replace Anthony Rodriguez in the SX1 class of the Australian Supercross Championship after the Venezuelan returned to his base in the US prior to Adelaide’s third round.
While the team continued with Gavin Faith and SX2 title leader Jimmy Decotis at Wayville, team owner Yarrive Konsky said putting a second CRF450F back on the start gates for the remaining races is a priority.
The departure of Rodriguez comes following a disastrous opening two rounds at Bathurst and Jimboomba, suffering non-finishes at the pair of them upon the aggravation of existing injuries prior to his Australian arrival.
“The team has put some feelers out there to fill the second seat,” Konsky told MotoOnline.com.au. “We have already confirmed an Australian rider for the final round, but we’re still looking for somebody to fill that seat at Jimboomba and the Sydney indoor.”
While Konsky has yet to officially confirm who will contest Melbourne’s final round alongside Faith, sources indicate that it could be an existing domestic-based privateer drafted into the squad.
