Future unclear as MX2 contender transfers to MXGP class.
Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube has announced that Valentin Guillod won’t be stepping up to MXGP with the team in 2016 after ending their association this week.
After finishing fourth in this year’s MX2 World Championship with multiple round wins, Guillod was poised to make his premier class transition with the team due to aging out of MX2.
However according to a team press release issued last night, the team and Guillod have split because of “a difference of opinion in how and where to prepare in winter and which training schedules to apply in order to perform at a high level during the course of a complete season in MXGP in all different circumstances”.
The future of Guillod or the Standing Construct Yamaha Yamalube team has yet to be determined moving into the MXGP off-season.
