Decotis takes back-to-back SX2 wins for Penrite Honda

Penrite Honda Racing press release:

Penrite Honda Racing’s Jimmy Decotis has claimed back-to-back victories in the Australian Supercross SX2 Championship with a resounding class win at Jimboomba X Stadium last night.

The American led the 15-lap Final from start-to-finish to take the win ahead of fellow Honda rider Jackson Richardson (Penrite Honda Wilson) and Wade Hunter. Decotis acknowledged he struggled to get up to speed on the Jimboomba track but said it all came together when it counted most.

“I had some struggles in practice,” Decotis said. “It was a difficult track to get a good rhythm going. “A good start in the Final made all the difference and once I got into a rhythm I was able to just ride my own race and come home with the win.

“It feels awesome to get another win and to get so many cheers from all the Australian fans. “I really appreciate all their support, and I also have to thank everyone in the Penrite Honda team, who have been looking after me so well and have given me the best equipment,” he added

Teammate Gavin Faith endured a hard fought SX1 Final, falling back through the order after coming together with Adam Monea in the early stages of the race. Faith eventually finished the race seventh and said it was a frustrating end to the weekend.

“I am frustrated,” Faith said. “I made many mistakes throughout the day, not just in the Final. “It was a very disappointing result as I was the fastest guy in the morning and just made amateur errors. “To be honest I am lucky to still be sitting equal third in the points. “We have a lot of work to do over the next two weeks before Adelaide,” he added.

Faith’s SX1 teammate Anthony Rodriguez was an early retirement after coming up short in the rhythm section and aggravating an old injury

“I am bitterly disappointed,” Rodriguez said. “I should be doing a lot better and I am not.

The series now heads to South Australian with Round 3 of the Australian Supercross Championship to be held at Adelaide Showgrounds on Saturday October 31.
