CDR Yamaha’s Dan Reardon raced to an enthralling victory at round two of the Australian Supercross Championship last night.

In front of a near capacity crowd at the Jimboomba X Stadium circuit on a perfect night, Reardon bought his home town crowd to their feet as he crossed the finish line 12 seconds in front of his nearest rivals and take a popular win that now sees him move to the top of the championship table after two rounds.

As the 20 rider SX1 main event blasted off, Reardon and long-time rival Matt Moss were instantly locked into battle with the pair changing positions and swapping paint in the opening laps. Reardon moved into the lead, then Moss retaliated before Reardon again drove his YZ450F up the inside of Moss and took the lead back.

The battle was then cut short when Moss made mistake and Reardon raced off to a comfortable victory and he punched the air in celebration as he took the main event win.

“It was a pretty intense start to the race but I was prepared to do that for the entire 20 laps if that’s what it took to get the win,” Reardon said. “My only concern with racing like that is that its slows the whole race down and you allow the other riders to stay a little closer but that’s how it played out tonight and I’m happy to get the win.

“It was awesome to again race in front of a big crowd. The atmosphere of the event was good all day and there were plenty of people in and around the pits so well done to Scott Bannan and his promotional team on a great event.

“I also want to thank my team and my mechanic Brad. We put a new tyre of for the main event to handle the hard pack dirt and that’s about, my bike was perfect,” Reardon ends.

Team mate Kade Mosig also improved his round one position of fifth to take fourth at Jimboomba. Mosig was also involved in several battles throughout the main event as he passed his way forward and as the race drew to a close, he was on the rear wheel of Matt Moss and pushing for a podium position. He was unable to make a pass and had to settle for fourth in an improved ride from the opening round.

“Another step in the right direction and I felt my riding was a little bit better again tonight,” Mosig said. “It took me a couple of laps to get into it but then I felt good and my speed was consistent throughout the night.

“The track was really hard pack dirt and finding traction wasn’t always easy so you couldn’t be overly aggressive especially in the turns. But fourth is better and with four rounds to go, hopefully the improvement can continue at every round,” Mosig said.

The CDR Yamaha team are now well placed after two rounds of the Australian Supercross Championship, with Daniel Reardon leading the way and Kade Mosig sitting in third. Round three of the championship moves to South Australia where the Wayvillle Showgrounds, in the heart of Adelaide, will see supercross for the first time in over a decade.
