DUNLOP AUSTRALIA:
Dunlop Tyres is pleased to announce that it has been awarded the controlled tyre tender by the International Entertainment Group (IEG) for the Australian Superbike Championship (ASBK) for the next 3 years.
Dunlop Tyres have been the controlled tyre of choice for the Australian Superbike Championship for the past two years, and Dunlop’s Motorcycle & Motorsports National Manager Ken Weden was pleased to announce their continued involvement.
“We at Dunlop are excited with this announcement and are proud to be appointed this tender. It was an important contract for us and our distributors to win,” said Mr Weiden.
“Dunlop has always been seriously involved in racing and to be awarded this contract means we can continue our association with the nation’s premier motorcycle championship series.
“Racing means many things for us, from product development to promoting the brand image to sales. We believe in our product and all at Dunlop are avid motorcycle racing fans.
“We are proud to be associated with IEG and the ASBK, and look forward to an exciting championship series in 2010 and the years to follow.”
Tyres are an integral part to competition and the tender process was measured on copious levels. The tyre manufacture had to display their willingness to support racers, support the championship and support the sport, as well as provide a tyre that was capable to perform.
“Dunlop’s proposal provided everything the championship required and their proven track record under pinned everything they put forward,” said IEG Director John Naggar.
“This was something we needed to do, so we could ensure that we were providing what our participants where asking for. Along with performance, riders have been pushing us to look at cost reduction strategies.
“The tender Dunlop put forward displayed an equal concern for performance and costing. I can confidently say that riders will be happy with Dunlop’s contingency plan and pricing”.
From next year, all ASBK classes will have a controlled Dunlop tyre. There is also an all new contingency program from Dunlop that will aide in reducing ongoing costs for riders.
