MOTORCYCLING AUSTRALIA:

The 2009 Wellard Australian International Six Days Enduro Teams have reached the half-way mark of the event, with both the Senior Trophy and Women’s Trophy Teams well in contention for a podium finish.

Day three in Figueira da Foz, Portugal saw the Senior Trophy Team riders raise the bar a level, with four of its six riders improving on their overnight positions, and the other two holding their positions.

The Women’s Team held position on day three despite some bike issues for Jacquie Jones, with Jemma Wilson and Alison Parker both in the top-five of the Women’s Class Outright.

Day Three at the event saw riders hit new terrain, with several fresh tests and a different trail being introduced as the route amid temperatures ranging in the high-20’s.

The trails included long sand sections that were reportedly hard going for the riders, and the new tests included two sand tests as well as a tricky Enduro test.

Of the Senior Team Riders, Toby Price continued his fine form to retain 15th position Outright, while Chris Hollis (23rd) and Jarrod Bewley (30th) both made inroads up the leaderboard.

Stefan Merriman (27th) was extremely consistent once again, and with Glenn Kearney (40th) and Kirk Hutton (61st) each putting in solid performances, the Senior Team is in a great position to push for a top-three spot.

The Junior Team riders still in the event include Geoff Braico, who is currently in 52nd and flying, the ever-improving Nick Beattie (60th) and Andrew Lloyd (193rd), who has put his first-day troubles behind him.

Day Four includes the same trails, tests and terrain that riders faced on Day Three.
