Reardon returns to the top step for Dunlop at Nowra

CDR Yamaha rider comes good for first overall.

Dunlop Tyres press release:

Dunlop and CDR Yamaha’s Daniel Reardon took his first round win since returning from retirement, at round eight of the MX Nationals at Nowra over the weekend.

With Reardon having shown promising results throughout the 2015 MX National season, the pieces of the puzzle came together at round eight – the Dunlop backed rider providing top results to land himself on the top of the MX1 podium.

Before racing had even kicked off, Dunlop athletes got to a flying start, with all five of the GoPro SuperPole participants putting down their hot laps on Dunlop tyres. KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Kirk Gibbs managing the fastest lap time with a 1:42.306.

In moto one, Reardon took the first holeshot of the day thanks to the performance of his Dunlop Geomax tyres. The lead was one which Reardon did not relinquish. Despite coming under fire from fellow Dunlop athlete and teammate Kade Mosig during the later stages of the moto, Reardon was able to secure the race one win ahead of Mosig who collected second.

In race two, Reardon once again put Dunlop tyres at the pointy end of the field. Despite not managing another race win for the day, Reardon raced to an impressive second place in moto two, rewarding him, the CDR Yamaha race team, and Dunlop tyres with the top spot on the podium at the conclusion of the round.

Dan Reardon:

“To get a good start on this track was very important because it was going to be difficult to pass in the race,” he said. “My Geomax tyres gave me the start I wanted, and considering the greasy conditions earlier in the race the tyres hooked up brilliantly. “For race two I choose to the harder option rear which suited the changing track conditions. “Once again I had total confidence in the tyres all race.”

The final moto also showcased further talent amongst Dunlop supported athletes, with KTM Motocross Racing Team’s Luke Styke taking third place in the second race of the day. At the conclusion of the round and with Reardon on top, Mosig further represented Dunlop on the MX1 podium, finishing in third overall for the round. Further success for Dunlop flowed on to the MXD class, with GYTR Yamaha’s Wilson Todd continuing to defend his championship lead.

In race one, Todd rode to second place behind a hard charging Jayden Rykers, before once again taking second place in moto two, handing Dunlop and the GYTR team with second place overall for round eight. In addition to the success of Todd and Reardon, DPH Motorsport’s Maddy Brown wrapped up a second consecutive Yamaha Australian Women’s Motocross Championship title at Nowra.

With tough competition in Meghan Rutledge, Brown got to work, racing to two second place finishes, which proved to be more than enough to add yet another championship to her name. Dunlop’s National Motorcycle Tyre manager Sabastian Minicone spoke after the event.

“Another successful weekend for Dunlop tyres with an overall first and third place,” he said. “My congratulations to Daniel, Kade and the CDR team for their fantastic results. “Riders using Dunlop tyres are now in the top 3 overall places in the MX1 class, and we could have not wished for better results at this stage of the championship. “My congratulations also to Maddy Brown who won her second Australian Women’s MX title.”
