Kawasaki’s factory MX1 team and Kawasaki supported riders in the MX2 class, are set to close in on their hunt for a series title in the next round of the MX Nationals this weekend.

On the back of an assuring race win at the last round, NPS Monster Energy Racing Team rider, Adam Monea, is more confident than ever aboard his factory KX450F. “When you are not winning it is the hardest thing in the world to get to the front, but when you are winning, it’s really comfortable and everything just seems to work. So I don’t think I’ve got anything to work on going into Nowra but I have confidence knowing where I belong on the track. I hope this is the start of a snowball and hope things start to go my way. I am looking forward to gaining momentum into the next rounds and Nowra should be exciting because I haven’t raced there before,” Commented Adam who is currently in 4th position overall with only 14 championship points between himself and 2nd place.

Team mate, Dylan Long, is enjoying every aspect of his first opportunity on a factory 450cc in the NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing Team. “Heading to Nowra we will just do a little bit more with the suspension on my KX450F. I’m happy with how much time I’ve had on the bike lately but I’m also looking forward to more training in the lead up to the next round. My speed, fitness and everything else needs minor improvements,” Dylan said.

Four-time Japanese Motocross Champion, Takeshi Katsuya, has tucked away consistent results aboard his KX250F thus far in the series. Sitting in a comfy 3rd place on the overall leaderboard, Takeshi’s experience, skill and consistency has branded him as the biggest threat to the current MX2 series leader. “Now is the time to make the most of my position in the championship and I am planning to add to my race win from the last round. The last time I raced in Nowra was in 1998 from memory, I raced the Australian Championship and finished 3rd so I hope the track is still the same layout and I can do well,” Takeshi commented.

Matt Ryan of the Proformance Kawasaki Racing Team has made a remarkable comeback after missing the first 5 rounds of the series due to a preseason injury. Running in the top 3 during the first MX2 moto in the last round was an outstanding achievement for Matt Ryan and he has been working on his endurance to improve his ability to hold a top spot. “Coming into Nowra, I know I’ve got the speed, I just need to work harder. Coming back from injury it’s common to have to work on endurance and fitness to get it back to what it used to be. I work fulltime so it’s been a challenge in these shorter winter days to get onto the bike for training during the week but I’m determined and I’ve been seeing the results from the effort we have all put in, “ commented Matt.

Renowned Australian MX racer, Cody Mackie, stepped away from racing in 2013 to establish a successful Motocross and off-road coaching academy. Cody has been sharing his many years of valuable experience from racing in Australia and the USAthrough his coaching school, CM33, and as a treat to all Kawasaki fans he will make an appearance at his local round this weekend. “I’m so excited. Kawasaki has helped me out with being able to race this round on a KX250F. They have been behind me 100% with my coaching efforts as well which I really appreciate. Coming into the Nowra round, I don’t have any expectations to win, I just want to go out there and have some fun at my local track and see how I stack up against Australia’s best 250cc motocross racers.”

Round 8 of the MX Nationals will be held this weekend on Sunday 2nd of August at the Nowra Motoplex in NSW.
