Strong showing across all classes for Pirelli riders.
Link International press release:
Pirelli backed athletes took race wins in MX1 , MX2 and MXD classes at round seven of the MX Nationals in Shepparton over the weekend – with Scorpion MX tyres handling the technically demanding conditions and showing the race winning performance of the Scorpion MX range available to all riders.
In the Monster Energy MX1 class, NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Adam Monea and Shepparton local Dylan Long flew the flag for Pirelli and Kawasaki at round seven. Monea went head to head with Dan Reardon in race two, putting on a show for fans and spectators to take the Moto win and 2nd overall for the day on Scorpion MX32. With the leading changing six times in this race, it was a true display of Moneas determination and race winning tyre and bike combination.
“I don’t think you can put into words how tough and technical the track was at Shepparton on the weekend,” he said. “The Pirelli tyres handled the conditions perfectly, and made my job a lot easier. Having that trust in my equipment on the weekend was very important, so I’m very happy that I could finish on the podium with Pirelli in my corner.”
Matt Moss also qualified his Suzuki in 1st place, with an unfortunate accident in Superpole causing Matt to sit out both Moto’s. We wish Matt a speedy recovery from injury and return to racing at the MX Nationals.
In the Motul MX2 class, series leader JCR Yamaha’s Jay Wilson represented Pirelli on the podium at round seven. After snatching the first hole shot of the day, Wilson raced to fourth in moto one, and second in moto two behind fellow Pirelli supported Luke Clout (Serco Yamaha) to finish the round in third overall, and with the red plate in hand. Jay chose the 80/100-21 Scorpion MX32 in combination with the 250 F specific 110/85-19 MX32 rear.
“Round seven was a tough one on everyone, but thanks to Pirelli I was able to finish on the podium and retain the championship lead,” he said. “The conditions at Shepparton were very technical and rutty, so having a reliable tyre to race on was very important.
“It’s great to have the continued support of Pirelli and the guys at Link International, and they definitely make my job a lot easier on the weekends.”
Privateer Jayden Rykers also tasted success in the Pirelli MXD Under 19 Class, taking the round win the best way possible, by taking both Moto wins for the day and also qualifying fastest in his Pirelli shod machine. Jayden’s choice for the KTM was 80/100-21 MX32 and 110/90-19 MX32 rear.
Don Nicholas Pirelli Moto Product Manager : “We congratulate Jayden, Luke Adam on their on their Moto wins today. It’s great to see these winning results on the Scorpion MX32 tyre straight off the shelf and available to all riders around Australia.
