MX Nationals champion could come back sooner than expected.
Team Motul Suzuki’s Matt Moss is considering an early return to the MX Nationals when the season resumes with round four at Murray Bridge on Sunday, 17 May, but insists he won’t rush back before he is in a position to win races.
Defending two-time MX1 champion Moss wasn’t expected back until the second half of the season following his first turn incident at Appin’s second round, but upon return to riding last week he could now line up sooner in South Australia next weekend.
Moss made his return to the RM-Z450 last Wednesday, but riding since then has been limited due to further illness – he’s due to decide on Murray Bridge mid-next week.
“It depends on how I feel, because right now I’m not going to be racing,” Moss told MotoOnline.com.au. “I don’t want to come out and come second, because I’m out of the title hunt now and the team only wants wins.
“There’s no point coming back until I feel like I can give 100 percent. I felt good when I got back on, we made some changes and everything looking ahead is pretty good. On Wednesday I will probably make my decision.”
Regardless of Moss’ decision ahead of Murray Bridge, Team Motul Suzuki will continue its season with MX1 class rookie Kale Makeham, who currently sits ninth in the standings after three rounds.
