Dunlop-backed Styke and Gibbs once again claim podium positions.
Dunlop Tyres press release:
Dunlop-backed Luke Styke and Kirk Gibbs have once again claimed positions on the Monster MX1 podium, after a successful round three at Broadford over the weekend.
After two MX Nationals rounds standing on the third step of the podium, Styke took a race win in moto one and a third in moto two at Broadford, claiming a career first MX1 overall win on Dunlop Tyres.
“The Dunlops were brilliant all round,” he said. “They hooked up in the changing track conditions we faced over the two motos, they just did not do a thing wrong.
“Broadford got shiny and slippery, but our hard pack tyres provided consistent feedback.”
For Gibbs, round three delivered a mixed bag of results. After crashing in moto one and finishing in seventh, Gibbs went on to win race two and collect third step on the podium alongside his teammate.
Despite the minor mishap in moto one, Gibbs retains the MX1 red plate and continues to lead the championship as the series continues on to South Australia for round four.
Dunlop’s Daniel Reardon (CDR Yamaha) was also dealt mixed results at Broadford. After a race incident in moto one with teammate Kade Mosig, that forced Reardon to DNF, the former retiree recovered in moto two to finish in second place behind Gibbs.
Dunlop’s National Motorcycle Manager Sabastian Mincone shared his congratulations after the event
“Congratulations to both Luke and Kirk for their results on the weekend and also to KTM,” he said. “Dunlop tyres have dominated the results for the first three rounds and we are now sitting in the first three overall places in the series. This is a testament of the overall performance of our Geomax range in this very competitive series.”
