Verdict:
There was absolute fireworks in moto one when CDR Yamaha duo Reardon and Mosig clashed while running 1-2 (more on that later), but you can’t take anything away from Styke with his first overall. No matter what happens on track this year it seems Styke is always there inside the top three, which will pay off in the chase for the title. He was the big winner in moto one and brought home the overall with a third in the final moto. Behind him Monea was improved for a popular second, with Gibbs overcoming some massive crashes to secure the final spot on the overall podium. The way he remained composed for the second moto win goes to show just how good he is right now in terms of this championship. After a DNF in moto one as a result of the Mosig incident, Reardon rebounded for second in moto two, while Mosig’s hopes for the number one plate were dented with another hard race. Still, he’s third in the standings and is definitely in contention. Other notable mentions, Cooper fourth overall in a bit of a quiet day, Phillips with a stunning second in moto two, and Long with a top five in his home state.

Verdict:
If there was any doubt of Clout’s chances of maintaining his MX2 title this year, he well and truly put them to bed at Broadford. He was fastest in qualifying, comfortably won both motos and set the fastest laps in the process. It’s hard to believe it was hist first-career sweep, but it was and right behind him in second on the podium was rookie teammate Beaton, who bounced back neatly from his Appin difficulties. Katsuya in third continues to amaze and he was again right there challenging the Yamahas, which is great to watch and really adds to the field. Stapleton in fourth was by far the best we’ve seen him in memory and Hunter was fifth, despite a penalty in moto two, and Wilson behind him copped two penalties – many were stung for apparently cutting inside a track marker mid-moto. It was a disastrous round for Nathan Crawford after he sustained a shoulder injury, which ruled him out of moto one and the second altogether.
