THE 6-HOUR:

The 6 Hour Endurance Race will be held at Oran Park Raceway the 21st – 22nd of November 2009. Presented by Bel Ray oils, the 6hour will be the last race event ever be held at the
track before it is demolished to make way for a housing estate. A fitting return for the 6 Hour to make it’s debut after many years.

Already 18 Teams out of the maximum 30 teams have already been confirmed for the event, with several international riders amongst the teams. The excitement in the motorcycling community continues to grow, with $25,000 in cash and a myriad of prizes already confirmed for all participants.

The 6 Hour is not aimed at factory supported teams with big budgets. Entry costs for teams have been kept to a minimum to attract as many teams as possible for the history making event. Go to our web site www.the6hour.com.au for all rider and spectator info.
Alan Blanco who is directing the marketing for the 6 Hour has confirmed the first part of the 6 Hour’s promotion.

“Ten/One HD have confirmed that they will screen a minimum of a one hour program of the 6 Hour with Daryl Beattie and Greg Rust providing the commentary. Interest from the motorcycling community has been overwhelming. Jack Ahearn, Kevin Magee Len Atlee, are a few of the names but everyday motorcyclists have put the 6 Hour on their calendar to attend and support. Our hospitality booking are over 300 and climbing fast. The 2009 6 Hour will be a celebration of Motorcycling for all involved.”

Rider safety will be paramount at the event, with Motorcycling Australia confirming that they will support the event by supplying 150 meters of air fence. The 6 Hour has also secured the services of Ray Le Nevez as clerk of the course and Lyndel Butler as race secretary, ensuring the event runs smoothly and safely.

Spectators have not been forgotten, not only can they expect an actioned packed weekend of racing, but there will also be many PA announcements over the course of the day to win
prizes and get involved in the bike and trade displays that will take place over the course of the weekend.

One of the highlight’s of the weekend will take place on Saturday afternoon, once qualifying is completed. Spectators will have the opportunity to take to the track on their own bikes to ‘Ride Oran Park for the Last Time Ever’. Event organisers are excited to be able to offer the public a chance to complete a lap of honour around Oran Park, and what a special lap it will be, as it will be lead by the likes of Wayne Gardner, Kevin Magee, Warwick Nowland and Roger Hayes.

Sunday morning will see a Past Champions Parade before the start of the big race. The iconic 6 hour race will include a Le Mans style start with riders being given their starting
orders by racing legend Kevin Magee.

Special commemorative merchandise will be available at the track along with trade stands and other displays, so there will be something to interest everyone.

James Spence, one of the event organisers said “The weekend is going to be huge as it will be the last racing event to ever be held at this fantastic circuit. It will be a shame to see it
