EPA set to involve the nation’s top young riders.
Motorcycling Australia press release:
Motorcycling Australia (MA) is pleased to announce the launch of its new Elite Performance Academy (EPA).
The initiative, which will supersede the previous Australian Institute of Sport-based program, is set to involve the nation’s top young riders from all disciplines.
Speaking about the EPA, National Development Officer Laurence Miller said it will be purely invitational; with selected riders invited to participate in the first phase of the program on the Gold Coast from June 12-14, 2015.
A selection process will then take place to determine the first intake of the inaugural Elite Performance Academy squad, who will then be invited to an advanced follow-up camp in September.
“This is an extremely exciting announcement in regards to the development of our elite motorcycling talent in Australia,” Miller said.
“The Elite Performance Academy will be a three-year pathway, and will expose our best young riders to elite level practice in the areas of sports science, sports psychology, on-bike skill development and athletic preparation.
“On top of this, it is envisioned that graduates of this program will be provided with assistance to facilitate a pathway to compete overseas at a world championship level.”
Miller also revealed that as part of the process, members of the Elite Performance Academy squad would be provided with ongoing management and mentoring to enhance their development and performance.
Further details on MA’s Elite Performance Academy will be released in the near future.
