Sinclair extends partnership with Rockstar Energy Drink

Seven-year partnership continues for Australian FMX icon.

Australian Freestyle Motocross (FMX) icon Cam ‘Sincs’ Sinclair has extended his partnership with energy drink giant Rockstar Energy for 2015.

2015 will mark Sinclair’s seventh consecutive year with Rockstar Energy, after signing with them in 2008.

In this time, the duo have shared a roller-coaster ride to say the least; reaching highs of gold medal success at the Olympics of action sports the X Games, to the lows of a nearly fatal crash in Madrid, in 2009.

Starting as a semi-professional motocross and supercross racer, freestyle jumping midway through an event became Sinclair’s way to pay the bills throughout 2004 and 2005.

In the years that followed, Cam helped put Australian motocross freestylers on the map, becoming only the third person ever (and first Australian) to successfully land, what is still arguably the most dangerous stunts in action sports; the Double Backflip on a motorcycle, in 2008.

His innovative style has continued throughout the duration of his career, and earlier this year Sinclair became the only rider in history to complete a backflip with three passengers during the Nitro Circus Live shows in 2014.

It hasn’t all been smooth sailing however, with the daring Victorian experiencing one of the biggest scares in his career, at the Red Bull X-fighters event in Madrid, Spain in 2009. Sinclair under rotated his signature Double Backflip, suffering life threatening injuries to his head and brain, multiple broken bones and a lacerated liver.

Despite great uncertainty as to whether or not he would even ride again, the support he received throughout his ordeal from Rockstar Energy was unwavering. Together with other loyal sponsors, the company assisted to cover costs of over $100,000 in medical and specialist travel expenses, to return Sinclair home to Melbourne, where he could begin his recovery.

Eight short months later, when X Games 16 (2010) came around, Sinclair returned shocking the whole world in what many claim to be the greatest comeback in action sports history, landing the same double backflip that almost took his life to win the gold medal in the Moto X ‘Best Trick’ event.

Sinclair won the hearts of legions of fans across the globe in the process and has been one of the most globally recognised action sports stars ever since. The freestyle legend also had a dedicated documentary produced in commemoration of this achievement, titled ‘TWICE’, which documents Cams journey from near death to his X-games gold medal triumph.

Sinclair has shared an incredible and diverse career in action sports; from world records, to X Games medals and performing for hundreds of thousands of fans around the globe on the Nitro Circus LIVE tour.

His commitment to the sport of freestyle motocross is unwavering and believes his passion is as strong as ever, recently achieving first place in the inaugural ‘Australian FMX Speed and Style championship.’

“I have so much history with Rockstar, to say we’ve been through a lot would be an understatement!” Sinclair said. “Signing with them for my seventh year is just awesome. It’s not very often you can say that a sponsor has been with you through both the good times and the bad, but I can definitely say this in my case.

“They really do feel like family to me now. I can’t thank them enough for their support throughout my entire professional career and I still feel like there’s many more exciting times ahead.”

The 30-year-old believes 2015 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years yet, with Nitro Circus LIVE appearances throughout Australia, New Zealand and the USA; Sinclair is also aiming for an X Games comeback.

“My ultimate goal would be to win a medal in X Games Speed and Style next year,” he added. “It definitely won’t be easy, but I’m feeling more motivated than ever, so I’ll keep taking it one week at a time and see how it goes.”
