Australian champion Matt Moss had his Paris-Lille (Bercy) Supercross debut end prematurely last weekend in France, crashing out of contention with a jarred right wrist that will require further examination this week.

Moss started out strongly on the opening night of competition, claiming fourth in the first final before a crash in the following elimination event forced him out of proceedings.

“It’s always hard going to a new country and this one was pretty rushed, but all in all it came together well and the bike was good,” Moss told MotoOnline. “The track was pretty tough, one-lined, and everybody was commenting on that.

“The first main event went really well, finishing fourth, and I was really happy with that. I had arm-pump the whole way, so I was stoked to get away with fourth. In the elimination I wheel-spun up an up-ramp, front wheel cased onto a tabletop and jarred my wrist that bad there was no way I could continue racing.

“Being older and wiser now, we made the decision not to race which was a shame, but it was good fun and I’d love to go back next year. I’ll be going to see a doctor tomorrow to get an update on my wrist and see where we are at.”

The event was won overall by American Eli Tomac (GEICO Honda) from Justin Barcia (JGRMX Yamaha) and Malcolm Stewart (Seven MX Honda).
