Team Motul Suzuki’s Matt Moss has downplayed talk of him targeting a perfect season after dominating the 2014 Australian Supercross Championship opening rounds at Bathurst.

Debuting the 2015 RM-Z450, Moss was untouchable under the lights of Bathurst Showground during both Friday and Saturday nights, winning all of his heat races and both main events to gain the early series lead.

With five rounds due over just three weekends of competition in this year’s ASX season, Moss refuses to buy into any speculation of his perfect season potential.

“Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to sweep it, but I’m here to win championships,” Moss told MotoOnline.com.au. “Ultimately that’s what we’re paid to do, so if I’m not a first place guy then I’m going to come fifth.

“I’m not going to push outside the boundaries or do something stupid… we want to win the championship again. Everybody loves to win races, but at the end of the day as long as you’re wearing the red plate and holding the number one at the end of the year, that’s all that matters.”

Following the first two rounds Moss leads the series over Adam Monea (NPS Monster Energy Kawasaki), while teammate Lawson Bopping and MX Nationals nemesis Kirk Gibbs (KTM Motocross Racing Team) are also firmly in contention.
