Husqvarna-backed rising stars go 1-2 in the 2014 championship.
It was Nathan Crawford’s day, but Egan Mastin year as the MXD category concluded in the 2014 Monster Energy MX Nationals at Coolum with a Husqvarna 1-2.
In the opening moto Crawford sprinted away to a comfortable victory, trailed by Mastin and Jayden Rykers (KTM), while Jack Simpson’s (Tunetech Racing KTM) hopes of the title further slipped in fifth.
The second moto was again all Crawford, winning by a mega 30-second margin as second again for Mastin clinched the championship – the first for Craig Anderson’s factory Husqvarna team. GYTR Yamaha guest Kyle Webster was third from Simpson and Rykers.
Crawford completed the sweep in moto three to secure second in the championship, winning the moto ahead of Todd and Webster, with Rykers and Mastin rounding out the top five.
Overall for the round it was Crawford the victor ahead of Mastin and Webster, who made the most in his guest ride for GYTR Yamaha in place of former red plate holder Jed Beaton.
