American Mike Alessi will make his Australian debut in Monster Energy Super X, the Australasian Supercross Championship, competing in the Lites class with the factory Motorex KTM team in 2009.

It’s expected that Alessi will make a shock step down to the Lites class to ride the 250SX-F for KTM in Super X, despite finishing ninth in this year’s AMA Supercross Championship in the 450 class.

Alessi will join fellow American and X Games winner Josh Hansen in the Lites class when he makes his Super X debut with Woodstock Honda, while it’s believed that other top U.S. riders are considering contesting the series in the premier Open category, which starts on 17 October at Aurora Stadium in Launceston, Tasmania.
