Victory for Kawasaki’s Meghan Rutledge at the Valkenswaard round of the 2014 FIM Women’s Motocross World Championship has placed her within two points of the series lead.

Despite being disqualified from a moto in round two, Rutledge remains well in the title fight after winning two of three rounds to date aboard her Kawasaki KX250F.

The weekend was a picture of consistency for 19-year-old Rutledge, finishing second in both motos to claim the overall victory – the second of her blossoming international career.

Current world champion Chiara Fontanesi currently leads the WMX series on 121 points, followed by Natalie Kane on 120 and Rutledge now on 119 at the halfway point of the series.

The next round of the 2014 WMX season will take place at Saint Jean d’Angely in France on Sunday, 1 June.
