Held over the Easter weekend, the 2014 Penrite Broadford Bike Bonanza exceeded 1000 entries for the first time since the event’s inception six years ago.

1200 bikes were ridden across three disciplines and thousands of fans from all over Australia made their way to the internationally renowned State Motorcycle Circuit to witness a mecca of riding on the motocross, enduro and road circuits.

Penrite Oil Honda Racing invited eight-time Australian Motocross Champion Glen Bell to participate in the historic event with Jody and Nick Smith providing the Australian legend with a perfectly tuned 1989 Honda CR500 and CR125 to ride.

A sure crowd pleaser, fans flocked to watch 52-year-old Bell cut laps of the motocross track, and they were not surprised to see him tackle the Broadford track with the same finesse that netted him eight championships.

“I caught up with people I haven’t seen in nearly two decades,” Bell said. “It is nice to be remembered. In the past I would talk to the fans only about racing, but this weekend we were talking about racing, family and life – it was nice to engage on such a personal level.

“My highlight would have to be riding the CR500, I still love riding and don’t think I will ever stop. I hit all the jumps and the uphill double was challenging; I still like pushing myself on different parts of track.

“I need to say a special thanks to Toby Dymond from Penrite, David White from MA and Jody and Nick Smith. I appreciate being considered and I look forward to coming back to such a huge event in the future.”

Toby Dymond also tackled the world renowned Broadford Circuit and was amazed at the level of professionalism and execution of the event.

“The overall event was amazing and run very professionally,” Dymond said. “Penrite Oil Company was proud to be involved, our heritage emulates what everyone witnessed on the weekend.

“This event is as Australian as our brand and family, and being a part of the greater motorcycle community was an enjoyable experience that we look forward to continuing in the future,” Dymond added.
