New Zealander Shayne King will compete in the 2014 Motul Pirelli Troy Bayliss Classic, to be held on 18 January at the Taree Motorcycle Club.
The 1996 500cc Motocross World Champion is the latest big-name entry for the annual dirt track event, which will pit world champions from motocross, road racing and speedway against one another.
“The guy is an absolute legend and I can’t wait to see him in action,” said Bayliss, organiser of the star-studded Old Bar event.
“I said I wanted to make it bigger and I’ve still many big names to announce. Come the Classic the oil-based track is going to have some of the best dirt track racing ever in Australia.”
King is honoured to receive an invitation to the Classic alongside some of the sport’s biggest headline names.
“When I saw the coverage of the Classic last year I thought ‘that’s got to be added to the bucket list’,” King commented. “To be offered a chance to line up with the legends this time around is a real honour.”
King is the fifth world champion to be confirmed for next year’s event alongside Chris Vermeulen, Karl Muggeridge, Jason Crump and Bayliss.
