A two-round Queensland Supercross Championship will be staged in the latter stages of 2013, hosted by Marshall Racing and Haworth Park in conjunction with Motorcycling Queensland.

The championship, which boasts approximately $25,000 in prize money will accommodate all riders and bring back the opportunity for Junior Lites and Clubman class Seniors to compete in Supercross events.

Round one will take place on 2 November at The Marshall Private Property in Dundas (Fernvale), with the second round the following weekend on 9 November at Haworth Park in Leyburn.

“It has been a long process and I have learnt a lot this year with the organising side for this event,” commented longtime professional racer and FMX ace Robbie Marshall. “I have enjoyed it all though and I can’t wait to see the championship unfold at the first round.

“I guess without Rob Haworth and myself volunteering to try and make the races happen, we still wouldn’t have anything like it in Queensland as far as Supercross racing at a state level goes. We are lucky that we have the properties to do something like this, and for myself, I can’t thank my parents enough for letting me do it right in their back yard of their home.

“I’m a bit bummed I won’t be able to race because I have taken on the management side of things, especially with the good prize money that is going to be offered for the riders. It will be good to see the riders get something back for their hard work though and I’ll just be happy to be a part of bringing back Supercross racing at a state level.

“Some of my best memories from racing are from back when I first turned senior and I travelled to North Queensland and spent weeks at a time doing back to back weekends of Queensland Supercross races.”

With the circuits to range in the minute-long range, Rob Haworth is also excited to announce the state-level Queensland Supercross season.

“As most people may know we have run a few Motocross race meetings at our property now over the last few years and we are really happy and excited to be able to extend to our park and add another discipline for riders to compete at,” he commented.

“Supercross is the pinnacle of our sport and although this year we have had to run these state races at private properties, we hope to see some decent crowds still and build the sport and the championship to be bigger and better in years to come.

“Between working my usual job and spending every other second I have had on this Supercross event, it has been tough but it will be all worth it to see it all go ahead and give everyone the opportunity to
give Supercross racing a go at a state level.”
