Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jay Marmont will work on his starting technique in the lead-up to South Australia’s third round of the Terex Australian Supercross Championship.

The four-time Australian Supercross Champion had a mixed opening weekend of competition last weekend in Darwin, third in round one and sixth in round two.

Now fourth in the standings after two of six rounds, 30-year-old Marmont is aware that he will need to refine his racecraft in a bid to stop Matt Moss’ early stranglehold on the top step.

“I had a good start to the series in round one, however I had a bad start in Sunday’s round two and got stuck in a bottleneck in the first turn and couldn’t do any better than sixth,” Marmont explained.

“The KX is working really well, but I definitely need to get better starts at the next round. It was a solid start to the series and we can build some momentum from here. I’m looking forward to a cooler round two.”

Marmont’s teammate Adam Monea was ruled out of the Hidden Valley opener, expected to return in the latter stages of the season after he recovers from a dislocated shoulder.
