Choice Motorsports KTM’s Brenden Harrison will take a number of positives from his return to top-level competition despite a disappointing result at Darwin’s Terex Australian Supercross opener last weekend.

Harrison was immediately on the pace in the early practice sessions aboard the 250 SX, and qualified fastest for Saturday’s opening round at Hidden Valley Raceway.

But his lack of racing in recent months hindered him when the gates dropped as he struggled to 12th in the first main event of the 2013 season.

Sunday saw a vast improvement as he won his heat race, but a severe case of fatigue due to arm pump forced him out of round two’s final.

“We had a lot of positives as well as a few negatives to take away from this weekend,” Harrison said. “I think I proved my speed is fast enough to win, I just need more bike time and more time racing under my belt.

“The 250 two-stroke is definitely a good choice for me and I can’t thank KTM Australia and the Choice KTM team enough for their support.

“I qualified fastest yesterday and won my heat today but the arm pump from last night’s final ruined me for today and I couldn’t finish.”

Harrison was drafted into the Choice Motorsports team for Supercross alongside Kiwi Kayne Lamont after sitting out the 2013 MX Nationals season.
