TETERIN MOTOSPORT:

Sydney’s Eastern Creek Raceway set the scene for what was round four of the Australian Superbike Championships over the weekend the 7-8th of August where Teterin Motosport/Motologic Racing Honda rider Jordan Burgess took Poll position in qualifying and a Victory in race one putting Burgess into second place overall in the championship.

Jordy Burgess gave the ‘boys in blue’ something to think about by putting the Honda CBR1000RR Superstock 1000 machine onto pole position in qualifying and taking victory in front of Yamaha Racing Team’s Pat Medcalf in race one of the Australian Superstock 1000 Championships. Racing at the front of the grid was tightly contested with lead swaps in all three races between Burgess, Medcalf and Beau Beaton on the Ducati 1198s, with Medcalf winning two races on Sunday ahead of Burgess and Beaton respectively.

Race two was held on the Sunday morning and after a positive start from Burgess, leading the early stages of the race before having a large moment on the exit of Turn Nine, which let Beaton and Medcalf through. Burgess managed to pass the Ducati machine but was unable to recapture the lead of Medcalf on the Yamaha R1.

Race three was a shortened race down to five laps from ten due to a crash in the early stages of the race and once again Burgess led the race before being slipstreamed and passed on the inside coming into Turn One. Burgess chased hard but was unable to retake the lead before the end of the short race.

Burgess also entered in the Superstock 1000 Triple Challenge which was part of the main Superbike race and took the win out in this comfortably over Ducati rider Chris Knox.

Jordy’s Comments:
“Coming into this round I was very hungry for the win and have been training quite hard in preparation for the races. We haven’t had that much luck here at eastern creek at the past and it’s been a long slog trying to find the best suspension settings on the Honda, as we are at the limit of the Dunlop [Control tire] grip limit. Putting it on Pole was great, it was great to have the psychological edge of the number one on the grid over the others, mainly Patty! Although I knew Pat would come out charging for the Race. After race 1 I was over the moon!! This was my first win at the ASBK at any level so it was a great achievement and I think it helped show people how much I want this and want to be on top. Race two and three had there ups and downs, literally for Race two, saving a pretty large high side out of turn 9. Speaking to commentator Phil Harlum after the race, he said he could see daylight between the windscreen and my bum!. Race three was a bit of bad luck with the race distance being so short, I do not like the shorter races. The 5 lap race, due to a fallen rider didn’t suit me but it was what it was and hats off to patty for reeling me in that last one. I think one more lap on that race and I may have taken back the lead. We were sliding everywhere by that stage so anything could of happened! I’d like to thank my team, my mechanic and all of my family and supporters for being there over the 2 days and making it a successful weekend for us!”
