CJC RACING:

CJC’s Craig Coxhell signalled his intentions early in the week holding top spot in qualifying for the majority of regular qualifying before being moved back to second place prior to Superpole. The new top 8 shootout format saw him slip back to position 6 on the grid and it was from there that he battled his way back to 3rd in a thrilling race 1. In doing so becoming the first privateer to take a podium in the superbike class this year and in front of a large crowd at Eastern Creek

Craig Coxhell:
‘We’ve worked so hard for this, we’re a new team, a privateer team and to be battling in what is arguably one of the most competitive classes in the world – well it’s a great effort from everyone. For a privateer team to have 6 of the 8 factory bikes behind them in this class shows that we can do this.’

Bisley Workwear’s own Scott Cam was blown away by the racing after he joined Craig on the grid this weekend. ‘Seriously, these guys don’t get paid enough do they?! Watching them out there on the track, doing a gazillion miles an hour, elbow to elbow – it’s unbelievable. And how about the commitment! Did you see the pic from qualifying? He’s on the wrong side of the white line!!’

Race 2 saw the flu catch up with the Shepparton based rider unfortunately and while fighting a recalcitrant front tyre he dropped back to 12th after running wide. ‘That was a tough one. I think we had the wrong front tyre on in that last race it just wasn’t gripping. We’ll have to go back and have a look at that. I was pushing like hell everywhere and had a big moment at turn 6 and lost a bunch of time. I fought as hard as I could, it was getting pretty hard to hold onto the bike at the end but I was reeling in Jamie towards the end of the race and would have had him with another lap.’

Crew Chief – Rob Coxhell:
‘Its been a great weekend for us, absolutely – we’ve now got the proof that we can do it and the confidence its given everyone in the team is worth more than I can tell you. We’re still learning as a team, but the whole unit is working really well and everyone is getting on with the job while having fun at the same time and that’s important. I want to thank all those people who have stuck by us and shown encouragement and support. We’ll see you in Mallala!‘
