Australia’s Dean Ferris used the technical Hyvinkaa circuit to his advantage at Finland’s round 12 of the FIM Motocross World Championship over the weekend.

The Australian rider put together a strong 3-3 moto scorecard to earn himself second overall on the day in the stacked MX2 category.

Following a series of rough rounds, Ferris is feeling good about his performance after finding an improved bike setup to tackle the tricky circuit.

“I feel good,” said Ferris. “It has been a few tough races recently and I think it was the track that helped me out today because it was quite technical.

“I got some good starts and my bike was fast all weekend, I was able to put it on the podium again so it’s all-good. We’ve done some testing during the week and found a better setup.

“The engine has been really strong and overall we’ve been sticking to the program. I was just able to keep moving forward today and brought it home in the second moto after [Jordi] Tixier was too far ahead.”

Ferris’ recent second overall matches his season-best runner-up finish from Qatar’s round one of the series. The Queensland native currently sits sixth overall in points with five rounds remaining.
