Australia’s Dean Ferris is content with his sixth overall Uddevalla FIM Motocross World Championship performance aboard his Monster Energy Yamaha.

Ferris kicked off his day at the Grand Prix of Sweden with a good start and a solid top five MX2 result in the opening moto.

Moto two saw Ferris get an average start, forcing him to push through the pack for a sixth place finish. The Queenslander admits he had strong speed but found himself struggling to stay consistent.

“I had good speed but I struggled to do it all the time,” said Ferris. “I got a decent start in the first one but dropped back to fifth with [Jordi] Tixier and then suffered a bit with inconsistency, then my start was terrible in moto two.

“I came through okay but everybody was running such a fast pace because the track was flat. I ran out of roll-off and with about fifteen minutes to go I somehow had to work out how to get around [Jose] Butron and [Aleksandr] Tonkov.

“I sat back for a while and got stuck in a rhythm but when I saw the two lap board I pinned it past both of them, so that was good.”

Ferris is happy with his sixth overall result and feels that his physical condition and bike setup are right where they should be.

I felt good physically the bike was working well after a bit of testing during the week,” he added. “It is not the best result but was kinda solid. I felt I was riding okay so I’m pretty happy.”

Ferris currently sits sixth overall in the MX2 championship standings with seven rounds remaining on the 2013 calendar.
