GEICO Honda’s Zach Bell has been sidelined once again in his rookie season with a shoulder injury sustained at the Toronto round of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross series.

After sitting out the remainder of the Supercross series, Bell made his return at Hangtown’s season opening outdoor round, but during the second moto the 18-year-old was forced to pull off due to his shoulder troubles.

Bell announced via Twitter that he will undergo surgery to repair his shoulder and his expected recovery time will be around four months, ruling out a return to the 2013 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship.

“Well after waiting almost three months and trying to ride with my shoulder and now to find out what was all wrong with it feel like I did good at Hangtown,” said Bell. “Getting surgery on the 14th of this month, four month recovery time…”

Bell kicked off his professional career briefly in 2012 before suffering a neck injury, he then returned for the 2013 Supercross series which saw him take dirt samples on more than one occasion.

GEICO Honda are yet to put out an official release on the matter, stay tuned to MotoOnline.com.au for any updates on possible fill-in riders and for Bell’s return date.
