Adam Monea’s sights remain set on the top spot after earning himself his maiden MX1 podium finish at the Wonthaggi Monster Energy MX Nationals round.

After building a strong base in the early stages of his rookie MX1 season, the Monster Energy Kawasaki rider has landed himself where he planned to be – but a third overall is just the start for the Victorian.

Monea plans to use this third overall finish as a building block to climb the ladder of Australia’s premier class, ultimately searching for an overall victory before the 10-round season wraps up.

“I’m definitely happy with the weekend,” said Monea. “It’s something I’ve been working towards. It’s a step in the right direction and something we can build on.”

Moving forward at a consistent rate is the name of the game for Monea after stepping onto the MX1 podium for the first time.

“I always knew it was in me and hopefully it’s only the start,” he added. “I want to climb the other couple of spots and achieve more and keep chipping away at the series standing. I just need to keep moving forward.”

Monea currently holds down seventh place in the MX1 standings with seven rounds of racing remaining.
