Following her successful debut appearance at the opening round of the IFMXF Night of the Jumps in Berlin, Carlton Dry Honda Racing’s Emma McFerran has returned to Germany to take part in this weekends Munich event at the historic Olympic Arena.
McFerran, who thrilled the Berlin crowd earlier this month with her signature back-flip, was recently honoured in the sixth annual FMX Awards, created by the Berlinieros Sports Agency.
The Australian won the Best Female FMX Rider category, laying claim to an astounding 60% of the votes ahead of Jolene Van Vugt.
“I am excited to be back in Europe for Night of the Jumps,” McFerran said. “Initially I was invited to do the opening event but due to the overwhelming response I am back here for this weekends round in Munich.
“It was an absolute honour to be voted Female FMX Rider of the year. I know there are not a lot of girls out there riding FMX, but to be recognised globally after just a few years in the sport is incredible and I want to thank everyone for their votes and support.”
Carlton Dry Honda Racing team owner Yarrive Konsky said McFerran’s personal feats and achievements were extraordinary.
“What Emma has overcome is what attracted our team to her” Konsky said. “She is a young sportsperson who strives to live life to its fullest, she is modest and humble and continues to push herself to new heights.
“Everyone at Carlton Dry Honda Racing is excited to see Emma successfully making a name for herself on the world FMX stage. We wish her all the best for the weekend and can’t wait to see what else she has in her bag of tricks for 2013.”
