KTM have announced that their relationship with mulit-time FIM Motocross World Champion Antonio Cairoli has been extended for another three seasons of racing.
Cairoli will continue to represent the Red Bull KTM Factory Race Team in 2014, 2015 and 2016, sticking to the same winning formula which has gained them a large amount of success.
Pit Beirer, head of KTM motorsports, made the announcement under the lights of the Losail Circuit at Qatars season opening Grand Prix round.
“Antonio joined us when we launched the KTM 350 SX-F bike and we have not only enjoyed great success with this partnership, it has also been one of trust and confidence,” said Beirer. “It was the wish from both sides that this successful partnership continues and we are of course delighted to extend it through to 2016.”
Carioli joined the factory team at the beginning of the 2010 season already as a seasoned world champion after having won the MX2 title in 2005 and 2007 and the MX1 title in 2009.
The Italian continued to remain at the top in 2010, 2011 and 2012, clinching multiple world MX1 world titles with the Austrian manufacturer.
Cairoli currently sits second overall in the 2013 FIM Motocross World Championship MX1 standings after round one, the series now heads to Thailand this weekend for round two.
