MOTOREX KTM:

Renowned by many as Australia’s best desert racer, Ben Grabham winner of the 2009 Finke Desert Race, and Hattah Desert Race will be mixing it up with motocross racers this Sunday 26 July, at Lake Macquarie for round seven of the Australian Motocross Championship.

Riding with Motorex KTM,  Grabham will enter the Pro Open class on board the KTM 450 SX-F, and comments he isn’t intimidated by the different style of riding.

“I love racing bar to bar, and I’m not intimidated by the guys who race motocross for a living, it’s all fun to me, and I don’t have a championship on the line, so I can just focus on my own riding,” said Grabham.  “I decided to enter the Motocross Championship to improve of my short course racing which can help me in the Australian Off-Road Championship.

“I’ve mastered desert racing, but I’m always wanting to improve in other areas of racing, so I hope to take some additional skills away from mixing it with Australia’s elite motocross racers.”

Besides the racing, Grabham will be joined by his off-road team mate Brad Williscroft at Lakes, to promote their joint entry into the Baja 1000 later this year.

For KTM professional motocross racers Tye Simmonds,  and  Kade Mosig , Lakes is not just a fun day out, as each rider strives for podium glory.

Race Team Manager, Ross McWatters comments, “At the previous round held at Wanneroo in WA, Tye Simmonds  dominated the Pro Lites winning two motos, and taking the overall win on the day to move into second in the series.   He sits just 20 points shy of Pro Lites series points leader Matt Moss.  There are five motos left to run in the Championship, and 125 points up for grabs so there is plenty of opportunity to close in as the series winds up.

“In between National Championship rounds Tye Simmonds kept himself busy winning both classes at the final round of the NSW Motocross Championship in Bathurst last weekend .

“Kade Mosig (Pro Lites)  is out of a top three championship  – results wise – but is looking to nail down a moto win, and regain some glory after a hand injury at the opening round kept him out of the points for most of the season.

“Mosig came close to a podium in WA, and is looking to remind the opposition at Lakes.  Kade is still a threat to take an overall before the season is over.”

The Australian Women’s Motocross Championship will also kick off at Lakes with Motorex KTM Racing’s Kristy Gillespie returning to the track in hope of maintaining her number one plate.

The seventh round of the 2009 Australian Motocross Championship will be held at Lake Macquarie Motorcycle Club on Sunday 26 July:
