Red Bull KTM’s Ken Roczen will stay focused on the task at hand after taking control of the 2013 Monster Energy Supercross west region points chase.

Roczen scored his first win of the season at Oakland’s round four over the weekend, breaking the winning streak of his arch-rival Eli Tomac, who suffered a DNF result aboard his GEICO Honda.

The former FIM Motocross World champion was strong throughout the day and looks to have put in his best performance of the year at a perfect time.

“I’m super happy right now, I have the points lead,” Roczen commented. “But I’m not going to celebrate too much, to be honest. I’m going to keep charging.”

The young German rider raised his intensity level in lead up to the Oakland event, something that he feels benefited him a lot during the night on a track which many considered the toughest of the season.

“I tried to get my intensity up during the week, and I think that helped a lot,” he added. “Things just came easy today. A lot of people were saying that the track was difficult, but for me I thought it was the easiest track we’ve had this year. That’s always a good sign, and I made it happen.”

Roczen now leads the 250SX championship by 11 points over Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda’s Cole Seely, while Tomac drops 15 points back from the lead.
