Serco Yamaha Metal Mulisha Racing’s Luke Clout is aiming for a top five placement in the Terex Australian Supercross Championships after a sixth place finish in the SX-Lites main event at Toowoomba last weekend.
Clout didn’t get the start he was after in the mud-packed final and was left to battle his way forward from the rear of the pack. He worked tirelessly for the next 14 laps, passing his way forward to a very respectable sixth place.
With consistent performance at the last two rounds, Clout now also sits in sixth place in the Pro Lites championship and well within striking distance of a top five championship distance.
“I had never raced a supercross like that before and it was a massive learning curve for me,” Clout commented. “We were still trying to do the jumps through the mud, the ruts and the rain and it was just a difficult night to be racing.
“I always like to do better, but my result isn’t too bad considering the conditions and I have been able to get back a few more points in the championship. A top five for the championship would be a good result.”
Teammate Luke Styke remained on the sidelines recovery from wrist surgery and was on hand to cheer his teammate on.
