Milner stretches out A4DE lead at halfway mark in Warragul

Daniel Milner will lead the field into the business end of the 2012 Yamaha WR450F Australian Four-Day Enduro (A4DE), after consolidating his stronghold on the championship yesterday in Warragul.
The Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road young gun collected five of seven special test wins in gusty conditions to extend his Outright championship lead over Toby Price (Motorex KTM Off-Road) out to 27.993 seconds.
Former World Enduro Champion Stefan Merriman (Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road) rode consistently across the day’s menu of special tests to pocket the third quickest time of the day and maintain his hold on Outright third.
Milner also marked his stamp on the E1 Class, and will head into the third day of competition with nearly a minute and a half’s grace over Italian rider Alex Salvini (Husqvarna) and Victorian charger Peter Boyle (Honda).
Husqvarna’s Glenn Kearney retained his grasp on the E2 Class, and will be hotly tailed into tomorrow’s action by serious title contenders Matt Phillips (Ballard’s Yamaha Off-Road) and Josh Green (Active8 Yamaha Yamalube).
Defending Outright champion Price maintained a clear lead on the E3 Class, streaking ahead to a put nearly fifty seconds between himself and Merriman and more than two minutes over Daniel Sanders (Bolton’s KTM) ahead of Day Three.
Damian Smith held on to the top spot in the Veterans Class, while Kirk Hutton (Yamaha) jumped up to second and David Fleming (KTM) stepped back one rung to third.
The Masters class saw Stuart Bennett (KTM) lay down the fastest time of the day in front of Trent Lean (MX1 Australia) and Derek Grundy (Yamaha), while serious contender and local rider Mike Shearer (Husqvarna) was forced to withdraw after sustaining an injury. With two days on the board and Shearer taken out of the equation, Bennett leads the class ahead of Grundy and Pete Golding (Yamaha).
Yamaha’s Jessica Gardiner once again turned out a stellar performance to dominate the Women’s Class, widening her buffer over Emelie Karlsson (Yamaha) and Tanya Hearn (Pro Rider KTM).
The action continues at Buln Buln Sports Ground from 7:15am today, with riders gearing up to take on another intense day of trails and special tests.
