Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli has already wrapped up the 2012 MX1 title two weeks ago, his sixth FIM Motocross World Title to date.
Behind Cairoli is Rockstar Energy Suzuki’s Clement Desalle is in a similiar situation, sitting comfortably in his secured second place overall spot.
The battle will be for third place overall in the standings, where Kawasaki Racing Team’s Gautier Paulin and Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Christophe Pourcel sit just six points apart.
Pourcel had a rough 2011 event in Germany, unable to finish a single moto, this will surely play into the mind of both riders as they battle for the final podium spot.
Evgeny Bobryshev made history last year in Teutschenthal when he won his first Grand Prix on German soil, keep an eye out for the Russian rider to be searching for another win to wrap up the season.
A suprise addition to the MX1 class will be Red Bull Factory KTM’s Ken Roczen. Fresh off of a full Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Season, the German rider will get amongst the action and mix things up with the premier class contenders.
In the MX2 class, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings will enter the season finale with the 2012 title in his pocket, after wrapping it up just weeks ago.
Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuits Tommy Searle sits comfortably in second place overall, after a hard-fought battle throughout the season with the Dutchman Herlings.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Jeremy Van Horebeek has the final spot on the MX2 podium locked down, but still searches for that elusive first-ever GP win, he will be aiming to make that happen in Germany this weekend.
