Dunlop is celebrating its 19th Australian Championship in the premier class after CDR Yamaha’s Josh Coppins took home the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals title.
After 10 rounds of hotly contested competition, Coppins, CDR Yamaha and Dunlop landed themselves on the top spot of the standings.
A large crowd packed into Queensland’s Coolum Pines circuit to watch the season finale, which saw Coppins orchestrate a fairy-tale finish to his 17 year professional racing career.
Coppins had come into the last round leading the series by 14 points, and following his 2-1-2 race results at the final round had maintained his lead to take home the series.
“Dunlop would like to congratulate Josh [Coppins] and CDR Yamaha on their brilliant results in the 2012 Australian MX Nationals,” said Dunlop National Motorcycle & Motorsport Manager Ken Wieden. “And also the team’s fifth consecutive MX1 win using Dunlop tyres.”
Coppins will now hang up his boots after long and successful professional motocross career competing with the world’s best.
