With the announcement of CDR Yamaha taking on Dan McCoy for the 2012 Australian Supercross Championship, many speculate where this will place the New South Wales native for 2013.
McCoy himself believes that the CDR Yamaha squad is where you want to be to get the best results, and a future with the team is exactly what he will be striving for.
After years of battling it out with the best and a solid 2011 supercross season under his belt, the 28-year-old explains that he still has the drive and motivation to go for the win.
“Anybody in this sport would love to be on CDR Yamaha and have that opportunity, them being such a professional team and also Dacka winning the last five motocross and last year’s supercross title,” McCoy said. “It’s the team you set your eyes on to get the best results.
“Where I’m at in the sport with my career, I really want to win, I have more determination and motivation still there. Sometimes I wonder why, because how hard it’s been at times, but I love the sport so much and what I do.”
Whilst he will be seaching for a fulltime seat on the CDR Yamaha bike, McCoy has been linked to Craig Anderson’s Berry Sweet/Lucas Oil/Yamaha team for next season aboard a YZ450F, if he is unable land a deal at CDR.
“I definitely want to get a good ride for next year, if it’s somehow with CDR or another team,” he added. “I have been speaking to other teams, so there’s a possibility that something could come up, and hopefully I won’t be left with nothing if I do well in supercross.”
