GHR Honda:
Round 5 of the Australian Off-road championship had the teams all travel to Murray Bridge in South Australia. Perfect weather greeted the riders at this all new venue which was recently used for sand mining. Green grass along with many creeks and valleys to traverse kept the riders focused for the entire lap.
Day one was a nine to ten minute loop with tree lined deep sand and some spectacular sections which required the riders utmost attention. AJ and Boyley were in fine form on their GHR Honda CRF 450R9’s. By the end of the day Peter had finished third outright and AJ fourth outright.
Comment from Peter Boyle “The track was good and I was pleased to be running up the front again. I did some testing with the team on Monday and Tuesday with some new suspension internals and the results are showing, a big thanks to the GHR boys”
Day 2 had the riders on a all new course once again taking the pro’s at least nine minutes plus to complete. Deep rutted tree lined sandy course and numerous creek crossings punished the riders the whole day. Once again the GHR boys finished 3rd and 4th outright.
Comment from AJ ”Man was that tiring. I had a good day and grabbed a heap of points. I am now up to second in the championship but it is close for 2nd, 3rd and fourth spots.”
Comment from Glenn Hoffmann “Both riders had really good days and climbed up the championship ladder. After more testing with Pete early in the week it was good to see him get the result we know he is capable of. He was only a few seconds off second outright on day one and jumped a couple of outright spots in the championship. If it wasn’t for a four time world champion, AJ would be leading the championship on an all new bike for 09.”
The team is now getting ready for the Australasian Safari which it has won since 2004 with AJ Roberts and Jacob Smith riding CRF 450X’s in the WA Classic.
