Current Australian Supercross Championship number three Daniel McCoy has confirmed via social networking that he will ride the Australian Supercross Championship for CDR Yamaha.

McCoy had been linked to the all-conquering team since the Moree round of the MX Nationals last month, now officially signed with the Melbourne-based operation.

The 28-year-old will join Lawson Bopping at CDR Yamaha for the four-round season, this week taking delivery of the 2013 model YZ450F that he’ll campaign during the season.

“It’s just supercross at this stage and obviously I’d hope for something more, but you know, I need to obviously try and do the best I can in this championship to even get a look at for full-time or anywhere else,” McCoy told MotoOnline.

“My goals are obviously to be 100 percent focused on what I have at hand, and hopefully one thing will lead to another.”

Since finishing third in the Pro Open championship for Motul Pirelli Suzuki in supercross during 2012, McCoy has spent the outdoor season as part of the Hart and Huntington/InsureMyRide/Suzuki team in a satellite role.

McCoy’s signing to CDR Yamaha marks the second time in his career that he has ridden for Craig Dack’s factory Yamaha team, also riding for the team in 2004.
