Team Yoshimura Suzuki’s James Stewart will be once again sitting on the sidelines for the next two rounds of racing, another solid blow to the former-champion’s 2012 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship campaign.
Stewart, the former points leader in the series, had not seen enough progress in his wrist rehabilitation after attempting to return to racing at round six of the series last weekend in RedBud.
After his controversial Thunder Valley mishap which caused the injury, Stewart has been unable to return to his early-season form, more time off to completely heal is the only option for the number seven.
“At this point in time it doesn’t make sense to push it,” said Team Yoshimura Suzuki Manager, Mike Webb. “From a safety standpoint, for both James and the other riders, we just don’t want to take the chance.
“The injury is a little more than we thought and will simply require a bit more rehab. The plan is to stay off the bike for a couple weeks and then ride and test and come back strong for Southwick.”
Stewart will miss this weekend’s Spring Creek National in Millville, along with the Washougal’s round eight in Washington. His return to racing will be in the sands of Southwick for round nine of the series on 11 August.
