A recent team swap for Scott Columb proved to light a fire under the New Zealander as he took out his best result to date at round six of the Monster Energy MX Nationals in Hervey Bay.
Columb, originally a fill-in rider on the Motul Pirellu Suzuki team, made the move to the Raceline Pirelli Suzuki team during the mid-season break.
A trip home to his homeland during the break proved beneficial, working hard in familiar surroundings paid off for the MX2 class contender.
“It’s the best result that I’ve had and on a brand new team,” Columb said. “It’s especially nice to get a good result and I’ve been working hard during the mid-season break in winter back home. I’ll keep working to improve further from here.”
After six rounds of racing the 2012 Monster Energy MX Nationals series will see another four rounds take place. At this point Columb currently sits a solid sixth overall in the MX2 points chase.
The series will now head south to Horsham in Victoria for round seven on 15 July.
