Australia’s Mark Monea has his sights set on landing his signature ‘Carry On’ in Los Angeles at X Games 18 in the Moto X Best Trick event which is slated to go ahead this Friday, 30 June.
The 28-year-old from Koo Wee Rup in Victoria has landed his ‘front flip 360’ style trick in competition once at the inaugural Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas last October.
In 2011 Monea crashed in the same event at the Staples Center while attempting the trick with a no handed variation thrown in, Monea says he has learnt from that experience and looks forward to landing his trick at the worlds most renowned action sports even.
“Last year, was a big learning experience for me. The X Games is such a huge event,” said Monea. “Having one under my belt now will definitely help. I know I’m capable of landing my trick – I’m just really looking forward to doing it.”
Monea, the older brother of Monster Energy MX Nationals MX2 contender Adam Monea, remains confident in his ability to perform his unique trick and cannot wait to have another shot at X Games gold.
“All I can worry about is doing what I came here to do and landing my trick; the rest will look after itself,” he added. “My preparation has been great. I’m feeling really good on the bike and can’t wait until Friday!”
Moto X Best Trick is scheduled to kick of at 8:15pm (PST) this Friday 29 June and will be televised LIVE on ESPN. Those in Australia can also watch it live at approximately 1:00pm on Saturday 30 June.
