The 2012 AMA Supercross and last year’s AMA Motocross champion has so far won everything possible in his career, and the prospect of taking his program to Europe for a run at the World Motocross title looks to be an attractive option.
With riders such as Ken Roczen, Marvin Musquin and Tyla Rattray making the move from the Grand Prix circuit to America, Villopoto beleives he has the chance to do the opposite to what so many have done in the past.
“My plan is to race three more years in America,” Villopoto told European website MXlarge. “Then I would like to have the experience of travelling though Europe and also racing the GPs.
“No top America has ever come over and done it, it’s usually the GP guys coming to America, or riders from America coming here because they can’t get a ride in America. It would be nice to see how I can do over here.”
Villopoto is currently sitting out the American motocross season due to knee injury suffered during supercross, just after he had clinched the title.
Word is that both Kawasaki and Honda are in a bidding war to have Villopoto on their bike for the 2013 season in the US.
