MX2 Monster Energy MX Nationals series leader Luke Styke is going from strength to strength as his confidence soars following a second round win of the season at Wanneroo last Sunday.

Styke’s story has been a fairytale of sorts since being picked up by Serco as a guest rider during the final rounds of 2011, now asserting himself as one of the sport’s hottest prospects after claiming podium results at all four rounds this season.

A pair of brilliant moto wins opened Styke’s account in Western Australia before he rode to a calculated fourth in the final outing, extending his series lead overall to a healthy 39 points.

“I really like racing in sand but it is always hard work when we race here at Wanneroo,” he explained. “It’s an awesome track, but to ride it well you really have to flow well and be ready physically or this place can punish you.

“I did exactly what I needed to do and that’s win the races that I can and be up the front in those that I can’t. Consistently good results are what it takes to win a championship and so far things are working well and the Serco team are doing a great job.”

Last season in the MX Nationals after contesting much of the season as a fully-fledged privateer, Styke finished 10th in the standings.
