After a dramatic season filled with great racing and many unfortunate injuries, the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series finale is set to take place in Las Vegas this weekend.
Coming into Vegas, all titles have been wrapped up, with Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto taking the 450 title before injuring his knee in Seattle, while the GEICO Honda team swept both Lites coasts, with Justin Barica in the east and Eli Tomac in the west.
In the 450 class, with the early departure of Chad Reed, James Stewart and Ryan Villopoto, it will be left up to the likes of Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey, JGRMX’s Davi Millsaps, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Jake Weimer and Muscle Milk Honda’s Justin Brayton to step up and battle for the win.
The main battle of the night will be between Millsaps, Brayton and Dungey who sit second, third and fourth respectively. Be sure to keep an eye on these riders, as only 12 points separate the three.
The Lites East/West Shootout is sure to be an interesting race as always, with both coasts going head-to-head, with the best of the best reigning supreme. This race is all about bragging rights, which seems to generate some wild racing and surprise rides.
All of the 2012 Monster Energy AMA Supercross finale action will take place May 5 in Sam Boyd Stadium, Las Vegas.
