Ferris 19th as Paulin and Searle score Sevlievo GP wins

Australia's Dean Ferris has taken a 19th place finish in the MX1 class at the Sevlievo GP in Bulgaria, while Gautier Paulin and Tommy Searle each scored wins.

Dean Ferris took a 19th place finish on return from injury at the Sevlievo GP.

Australia’s Dean Ferris has taken a 19th place finish in the MX1 class at Sevlievo’s second round of the Motocross World Championship in Bulgaria.

Being Ferris’ first race of the season after recovering from a pre-season elbow injury, he came into the Bulgarian GP without any expectations.

After taking 20-15 moto wins for 19th overall in the MX1 class, Ferris explained that he will be aiming to move up the ladder as the season goes on.

”I came to the race without any expectations, so I am satisfied with the clean motos I was able to ride,” said Ferris.

“The lack of arm pump in the second moto gave me better chances to keep up with the speed. The battle of the places 10 to 15 was fierce today, next weekend I want to be a part of that battle.”

Kawasaki’s Gautier Paulin took out the MX1 class with 2-1 moto scores, Christophe Pourcel went home with second after winning moto one, while defending world champion Tony Cairoli finished third.

The MX2 class saw Great Britain’s Tommy Searle take out the overall win with 3-1 moto scores, while Jeffrey Herlings and Joel Roelants rounded out the top three.

The FIM World Motocross Championship now heads to Italy for round three on 29 April.
